In light of my current issues with some botnet scanning me regularly I have decided to add a block to the main page of my site, which will appear in the lower left side. Entitled “Vulnerability Scan Counter”, I will enumerate the number of scans that my site has endured as a botnet repeated attempts to find unconfigured services - ones that I do not have on my site.

Although the futility of its attempts is somewhat entertaining, I do find it rather irritating to find that the majority of the hits on my site are attacks.

Hopefully, later versions of this block will be automated (I am currently considering approaches for automated blocking of this botnet, and will integrate the counter into any such creation).
